Coffee Chat #1 ☕
The growing baby. Our changing bodies. Time is the way we know that these moments are precious and will not last.
Hello.
It’s mid-August, a time of year that always brings a sense of nostalgia and surprise. Here in the Midwest, the cicadas are on full throttle. The air has the slightest hint of Fall and the blue sky beckons, inviting us to linger a while longer or have one last summer adventure.
Our family is in the midst of a long-awaited transition, preparing for our move to Chattanooga in just two weeks. I’ll write more about our move but for now, I’m finding it easier to express what’s on my mind and heart in a different way.
I’ve been playing around with the idea of a weekly video diary for a while (do people still call them vlogs?). My vision is for it to be a cozy, more intimate conversation— as if we were on the porch watching the sunset with a glass of wine, sitting next to the fire, or taking a walk in the woods together.
Unfiltered, unedited, unscripted.
Just me, having a conversation with you- sharing a line or two of poetry, a thought I’ve been carrying around, a question or hope or dream. Perhaps, a few minutes of meditation together, a tour of our new house, time to ask for advice, or share what’s on your heart.
As these videos will be more personal and vulnerable, they’ll be for paying members of Heartbeats only (a monthly membership is $5—less than a fancy cup of coffee!)
This week I share the frustrations I’ve been having around getting our house ready to move and how our homes can be metaphors for other areas of our life.
“The cracking paint, the weeds, the bruises on our legs and heart- it all requires constant care and aliveness.”
Grab a mug of coffee (or tea or wine!) and let’s sit together for a few moments.
