"Life" supplies for Earth School
Sharpen your pencils, roll out your yoga mat, and take a deep breath. You got this. And you’re not alone.
Honestly, it’s hard being human. Earth School is not for the faint of heart. I say this out loud, often. But just like when I was a kid nearing the end of summer, getting ready to go back to school, I get excited every January.
The quiet of winter helps me slow down, gather resources, organize old (and new) tools and perform a sort of personal inventory before beginning again.
Whether you’re in an advanced class or repeating a lesson, sharpen your pencils, roll out your yoga mat, and take a deep breath. You got this. And you’re not alone. I’m glad we get to spin wildly through space on a giant rock, together.
Here are some of my favorite “life” supplies to help you begin another season of Earth School.
1. Take a MasterClass
I asked for a subscription for Christmas this year and I’m so excited to learn from some of the best! As a bonus, I have one free subscription to give away! Simply refer a friend to the Heartbeats newsletter and send me the email they used to sign up. You’ll both be entered to win a free MasterClass pass (valid through December 2023).
Winners will be announced January 15th in that week’s Sunday letter!
2. Fill out YearCompass
This is a free workbook to help you reflect on the past year and plan for the next. It’s thoughtful and not so overwhelming that you can’t finish it. I’ve been filling one out since 2016 and I honestly don’t feel like I’m ready to say hello to the new year until I’ve sat down with it. Do it on your own or with a friend!
3. Choose a word or intention
This year, my word is Audacity.
But, be careful with this one. It’s a “two sides of the same coin,” kind of deal. For example, the year I chose the word Presence, we entered a global pandemic. The year I chose Surrender, I lost my father unexpectedly and also got pregnant (more on that in another letter).
4. Do a tarot reading
This can be a daily, weekly, or any-time practice. It’s something I love to do when I know I need to connect with my intuition or Spirit for additional guidance. Because I love you all so much, I decided to do one just for us!
I asked Spirit, “What will benefit us to know about this year?” and pulled from two decks, the traditional Rider-Waite and the Osho Zen deck. I love working with both to clarify messages and we had several cards repeat!
Reading left to right, the first column is what we are releasing. The second is the energy we’re stepping into this year, the third is challenges or obstacles, the fourth are our blessings. The Oracle card at the top is, “Let Love Transform,” from Alana Fairchild’s Rumi deck.
Here’s my interpretation.
