Ground: New Moon in Taurus
Nurture your creativity in harmony with the seasons
Slow down. Rest.
I’ve been feeling the energy of Taurus season for a while.
The call toward building a life grounded in pleasure and presence. The unwavering desire to simply lie outside on a picnic blanket and stare at the sky. It’s strawberry season here and my front yard is full of them- tiny, perfect, wild berries bursting with life.
The abundance of nature invites us to bask in the light and plant our feet in its rich soil.

On the other side of the full moon in Scorpio, as we feel the energy shift toward the new moon in Taurus, I’m reminded of the beautiful yin and yang of life. Working with each month’s full and new moon in opposite signs, we have an opportunity to come back into our wholeness in harmony with the season.

A chance to release and begin again.
As intense as the energy of Scorpio can be, bringing up themes of death, rebirth, and transformation, Taurus offers us an anchor in the stormy seas of life. A steadfast strength, rising from our roots. It calls us out of the depths of our emotions and back into our bodies, it asks us to open our hearts and slow down long enough to make tangible progress on the creative ideas generated during Aries season.
This month’s affirmation is, "I trust the wisdom of my body and listen to Mother Nature for healing."

In an era of technology and disconnection, we can forget that we ARE nature. Our bodies, composed of billions of cells, are remnants of stardust. Our hearts beat in time with an ancient rhythm. When we separate ourselves from nature, we cut off access to the full power of our inner wisdom.
This month is an invitation to nurture ourselves by spending time in nature, renewing our connection to life.
Creative Inspiration
“Action on behalf of life transforms. Because the relationship between self and the world is reciprocal, it is not a question of first getting enlightened or saved and then acting. As we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us.”
― Robin Wall Kimmerer
Reading Braiding Sweetgrass was the first time I remember feeling hopeful about our potential impact on our environment. And I think that hope is a very necessary tool in the preservation of life. I highly recommend reading her whole book but if you’d like just a taste of the poetry and wisdom inside (with some stunning nature cinematography), check out this short video.
Tarot Reading
8 of cups, clarified by the King of cups and 4 of cups in reverse.
The new moon in Taurus is asking us to commit to the journey. Often, we can become comfortable with the level of money, love, status (fill in the blank) we’re used to. After a difficult breakup, I convinced myself that I had already experienced the depth of love I was capable of. I had “maxed out,” if you will.
Thankfully, life had other plans. But I had to be willing to let go of what I thought was the threshold for the amount of love I could allow in my life. The eight of cups is about letting go of your idea of the most you can have. Even if it’s good. Even if it’s more than you’ve ever had before.
Venus is the ruler of Taurus and connected to our heart chakra. You’re being called forward on a journey of heart expansion. Grieve what needs to grieve and release it with gratitude so yout can experience new levels of love.
And yet. It is a journey. The King of cups in reverse is a reminder to not take any shortcuts. Taurus energy moves slowly. Steadily. Often, when we leave the job, relationship, or house behind, we want to immediately feel the emotional upgrade. Our minds resist the gap between our past and our future, yet the joy is in the becoming.
The four of cups in reverse invites us to close the gap with gratitude. Find pleasure in the mundane. Notice the plethora of colors all around you. Yes, the grass may be greener elsewhere but you’ll never appreciate the greener grass on the other side if you can’t give thanks for what you already have.
Keep your heart open, loves. I once heard someone say to move at the pace of the slowest part of you, and nothing is more Taurean than that. Take slow and steady steps forward, bask in the pleasures only offered by the present and you will move toward even greater fulfillment.
