Hello. If you’re new here, this is a monthly series to support artists of all backgrounds and skill levels. A place to be celebrated and encouraged wherever you are on your art-making journey.
Welcome to our second community art share. I believe wholeheartedly in collaboration over competition. I believe in making messy art, terrible art, mediocre art, beautiful art, and everything in between!
This is a space to showcase all of it. A space to celebrate and cheer for each other. I believe all of us are artists and hope to create room to share however you express that for you.
If you haven’t seen the manifesto from our first community art share, check it out!
My goal is to do a monthly art share but I need your help. You can submit anything you’d like using this form. You can also check out some of our artist interviews and nominate a friend (or yourself!) to be featured.
Without further adieu…
Joanne Mccobb
“This is the first mural I’ve ever done and it was the first work I made when I moved here(Sarasota, FL). It continues a thread I was working in that had to do with war and the disassociation many of us, especially in the States, have with the true nature of it.
While I lived in Italy in the ‘90’s, Yugoslavia was at war and while it was ‘far’ away we were constantly in a state of apprehension from fear it could easily spill over to Italy. The Italian Air Force maintained a state of readiness and the base that was near us flew their fighter jets overhead frequently.
The sound of them breaking the sound barrier became normal. I did many works that started there and continued to this piece. It was the last work I made that I consider my “Work”.
While I am many ways creative, I separate what I think of as my art with what I do as creative outlets. And while I enjoy and mostly appreciate my outlets, I look forward to one day getting back to my Work/Art.”

“Poetry is a way that I communicate to myself, a way I interpret and understand what I feel. Yet, these words are not mine, they are also an offering to the reader. They are a mirror, where as you read or listen, you'll start to feel, see and understand your own truth through them. This is why I write.”
You’ll Move In The Right Time
You’ll move in the right time Without a question from the mind Without wondering what’s sneaking up from behind To try to take away your joy Don’t be so coy To live a life in all that you are The light in the centre of the star Oh how bright you are The centre of a sun A shooting star on the run You are stillness You are energy in motion Clarity And raw Pure Emotion The winds of commotion The stillness of a calm ocean At sunrise An eagle soaring to new heights And roots deepening into the Earth All and more, you deserve When you put you first Home in your heart as you nurse The whole who felt separation The you who walked much preparation For the regeneration of your body Your cells How much that you once felt All so that you could now help Be of service to this world A lighthouse for boats in the darkness For the ones who who don’t try to be the fastest But want to move with intention Not only a prevention A way to manage Internal baggage No, the knowing inside you It guides you To follow your own unique path The mast to your own boat So that you don’t simply float along But knowing that as you are, you belong Not by making the Now wrong But in the noise hearing your own song Not of a siren But like the pull of a magnetic field The one your own compass points North to Yes, I can assure you That with every tiny movement in this direction Listening to the voices of protection Introspection Deep reflection Knowing they are all one And that is what one day you will, again, become The Universe you came from So, whilst you’re here There’s no need to fear Let your mind settle and clear Be still And the way from the knowing inside will speak And guide you through this life Hold you in dark nights Teach you how to survive Nourish, so that you may thrive Take flight from your cocoon Lift with ease like a balloon And maybe soon we’ll all remember The power when we surrender To knowing within To our unique nature So don’t listen to the haters The ones who doubt And show them what you are all about Not to judge But to stand in your light with gratitude A compassionate attitude Because it’s being you that has gravitude Real weight in this world On this Earth Because all of us deserve To be seen and heard Honouring our own guidance first Human merged with soul Living as the whole So release your control And listen to what you know
