Hello.
Earlier this morning, I took a short walk around our neighborhood, mind buzzing with last-minute party planning details for Noahβs birthday this Sunday, ideas for writing you this email announcing the Rhythms and Rituals journal (itβs here, itβs here!), and worries about the state of the world, sound bites, and headlines swirling together.
As I put my headphones in and felt the warmth of the sun on my cheeks, I felt a sense of calmβa homecoming, back to me. While βMorning Sunβ played, I walked up the hill, remembering all the times Iβve found my rhythm and come back to my center, over and over again, reminding myself that this happens not in spite of external chaos, but because of it.
Moving through the daily practices and rituals that soften the noise and allow me to hear my intuitive knowing is what helped me earlier this year, when I was struggling to find clarity within my creative projects. Instead of determining which direction to go, what came through instead was the intention of sacred collaboration. Rather than worrying about the outcome, a space opened up where I could soften into the process and invite others to join me in relationship along the way.
This is the energy I invited my long-time friend, artist, and mama Jordan EuDaly into when I sent her an email asking if sheβd be interested in contributing her beautiful, nature-inspired watercolors to the Rhythms and Rituals journal. Iβm delighted she said yes!

Working with another creative mama as we navigated all of the other life thingsβbad sunburns and out-of-town babysitters, asthma flare-ups and sleepless nights, and pushed deadlines reminded me why this work is so important.
Rhythms and Rituals isnβt just the title of a journalβitβs a way of being. A way of remembering to honor our own seasonsβfrom the exhaustion of early motherhood to the delight of completing a creative project, even when those seasons exist simultaneously.
We live in a culture that expects growth to be linear, outward, and always positive. We know from nature and our bodies thatβs not the whole picture. We need places and spaces where joy and grief are held together as holy and sacred. We need permission to experience fallow periods of rest. To let growth be messy, cyclical, and often unseen.
Rhythms and Rituals is your permission slip to harmonize with the ebb and flow of energy, and return to your wholeness.
May you find harmony with life, no matter what season youβre in.
All my love,
Mariah
